On Sunday, May 15th, 2022, join us as we navigate the Choptank River,  between the bridges from the the Talbot County side to the Sailwinds Park beach access point on the Dorchester County side. This 2.0 mile trip across the Choptank River and will be supported by paddle craft, motor craft and the US Coast Guard.

South River, Riva Maryland

This FUN event on Sunday, May 29th is an early season KICK OFF to the awesomeness of recreation on the river! Swim Pods enjoy the South River in similarly speeded groups of 2 – 4 with (1) athlete providing support on paddleboard (can be operated sitting with a kayak paddle, too:). Athletes elect amongst themselves who to switch out along the 3 mile course from the Riva Rd. Bridge to the Rt. 2 Old Solomons Bridge (and back).  Instead of switching out, pods may bring a dedicated support paddler & boat or request a Crossing Currents support paddler for an additional fee ($75).  Crossing Currents will operate motorized boat support along the course and all participants are required to wear waist belt visibility buoys (available for purchase $30).  Paddleboards/Paddle/PFD provided with registration.

Reston Masters will be hosting the 2022 Jim McDonnell Lake Swims on Saturday, June 4, 2022.  There will be 1 and 2 mile swims. See event website for details and registration.

The Great Chesapeake Bay Swim (GCBS) is one of America’s premier open water swim challenges. The annual event is scheduled for the second Sunday of June and consists of a 4.4 mile swim across Maryland’s Chesapeake Bay. The race starts from the shores of Sandy Point State Park, which is about 5 miles northeast of Annapolis. The course extends eastward between the two spans of the William Preston Lane, Jr., Memorial Bridge (U.S. Highway 50) and finishes at a small sandy beach on Kent Island immediately south of the Bridges’ eastern-shore causeway adjacent to Hemingway’s Restaurant. from Sandy Point State Park to Hemingway's restaurant in Stevensville, MD.  

2022 Chesapeake 1 Mile Bay Challenge

Event: Sunday June 12, 2022

Registration: February 1, 2022 - May 20, 2022 11:59 pm EDT

The 1-Mile Chesapeake Bay Challenge Swim consists of a triangular-shaped course starting and ending at the small sandy beach adjacent to the Bay Bridge Marina on the eastern shore immediately south of the Bay Bridges.  The event is coincidental with the 4.4-Mile Great Chesapeake Bay Swim (GCBS); the two events start approximately the same time at the different ends of the Bay Bridges.  The 1-Mile Challenge is completed before the first GCBS finisher crosses the Bay.
